The Student's Lament

Students from all over the nation can relate to administration issues, from financial aid delays to lack of housing and anything else you can name. HBCUs are not the only schools that struggle with these kind of concerns, TWIs do as well. However, the students of the famed HBCU, Howard University, were not going to take it anymore.

Word about a student protest had spread throughout the internet. My first encounter was on Twitter with Diddy asking for details about his alma mater. Then, I read J. Dakar's entry on Concrete Loop and an article on the Washington Post website.

About 350 students rallied in protest Friday morning at their administration building and even threatened a sit-in. I'm sure my fellow Morganites can relate to standing in long lines in any given office in Montebello or trekking to Truth Hall demanding to know what happened to your funds/schedule/housing after you've done everything that you were supposed to do. Everyone knows it gets as serious as keeping security at our financial aid office. Our complaints aren't all that different.

More power to the Howard Students and staff that had their voice heard last Friday.
